13 Spring Cleaning Hacks Anyone Can Do

I have put together my favorite tips and tricks to make the process more time saving, which will you give you more time to enjoy your tidy and clean home.
Spring Cleaning Tips

Have Colour Coded Cleaning Equipment

This will keep hygiene levels to a high standard; you don’t want to be using the same scrubber you’re cleaning the bathroom with in the kitchen. This is where Susi’s Scrubbers comes in, they have a variety of different Scrubbers for different uses, but if they were the same color like anything they would get mixed up.

Luckily when developing the product Susi thought of this, and the Scrubbers are available in a range of different colors, making it easy to differentiate them. Shop Susi’s Scrubbers here!.

Time Your Cleaning

This will help to keep you focused on the task in hand, changing a task you may be dreading into a fun game will make the time fly by. After timing how long a cleaning task takes, this may encourage you to do it more regularly, and you could even try to improve on the time it takes you.

Use Car Wax On Your Stove Top

I know this sounds odd, but I’ve seen the proof that this will give us the gleaming results we desire. Start by scrubbing the visible grime from the stovetop using your Susi’s Scrubber kitchen scrubber alongside warm water. Next, apply a very thin layer of the car wax, and buff it away using a clean and dry towel.

Clean Stainless Steel With A Lemon

A lemon can be used in many cleaning methods, so is a vital purchase for your spring cleaning. To make your stainless-steel shine again, simply cut a whole lemon in half and start rubbing it directly onto to steel in your bathroom or kitchen.

This will help to remove rust and water stains, it’s not only a natural and effective method, but it will also leave your home smelling fresh and citrusy.

Get Rid Of Water Rings With A Blast

For those times when someone hasn’t thought to use a coaster, and you are left with an ugly ring design on your wooden coffee table. To help to remove these, blast your hairdryer on a high heat at the designated area until the ring begins to disappear. Treat the wood with  linseed oil to maintain the quality of the wooden table.

Check Expiry Dates

Go through your make-up, toiletry and medicine cabinet to check for expiry dates. Make-up and most toiletry products have a little jar symbol on their labels. This will display their lifetime after opening. E.g. 6M means you should only use the product for six months after opening.

It is important you throw products away in accordance with this. If not, you run the risk of high levels of bacteria growing in these products.

Deep Clean Your Dishwasher

Your dishwasher is made for cleaning, so it’s vital that it is clean itself!

Remove visible grime with the use of a damp Susi’s Scrubber kitchen scrubber, before placing a dishwasher safe cup of white vinegar on the top shelf and putting it on your dishwashers’ highest cycle.

Following this, mix equal parts of lemon juice and water and put them in a spray bottle, generously spray and wipe down the dishwasher with a clean cloth, so you are left with a fresh-smelling and clean dishwasher.

Make Your Fridge More Space Effective

Limescale builds up on anything that comes into regular contact with hard water, it can lead to our shower heads getting blocked, which then effects the water flow and removes the shine. As most internet searches will lead you to, vinegar is the cheapest and most effective way to descale household objects. It is important that you choose the correct vinegar, which is white vinegar. Brown and malt vinegar may stain and are not as effective.

To use the vinegar to clean your showerhead, remove the showerhead from the hose, put it in a plastic container or bucket and cover it with white vinegar. Leave the showerhead to soak in the vinegar for an hour. After this time has passed remove the showerhead from the vinegar and rinse it with water. Remove any remaining Limescale by lightly scrubbing it with a Susi’s Scrubber bathroom scrubber.

Use an attractive magazine holder for storage on your vanity.

Use an empty tissue box to store old plastic grocery bags to re-use, this will minimize the space they take up and make them easy to access.

Use attractive empty candle jars to store pens, make-up brushes, toothbrushes or even cutlery.
